BULK PICKUP – The City of Fort Atkinson’s garbage contract allows residents to place bulk items at the curb the third full work week of each month on their regular pickup day. Bulk items are limited to two cubic yards and items that can be handled by one person.
Reasonable amounts of furniture and other bulky items would be included at no cost with the bulk pickup. Carpet will be collected during bulk pickups, however, the carpet must be cut to four-foot lengths and rolled and either taped or tied to keep the carpet rolled up. These items are not in addition to the limited two cubic yards per bulk week.
The following items ARE NOT allowed for disposal either during normal garbage pickup or during bulk pickup: Electronics, medical waste (needles, rubber gloves, oxygen tubes, IV bags, etc.), yard waste, sludge, auto parts, tires, automotive batteries, rocks, dirt, concrete, all appliances, building materials such as lumber, drywall, plaster, siding, windows, doors, etc., and wet paint or hazardous materials (please contact the County Courthouse regarding disposal of hazardous materials 920-674-7430). Empty or dry paint cans may be placed in the standard trash containers.
Items too large for one person to lift or excessive amounts of bulk can be picked up by the City’s garbage contractor at a cost. For appliance removals, please contact Advanced Disposal for pricing and scheduling at 920-395-1506.
Also, please keep totes at least three feet apart and away from other objects (mailboxes, light poles, etc.)
