December 29, 2020 Snow Event. Per ordinance, a Snow Emergency will be enacted when the City of Fort Atkinson accumulates greater than two inches (2”) of snowfall within a 24-hour period. In preparation for an incoming winter storm, the City of Fort Atkinson has declared a Snow Emergency to take effect Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:00pm through Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00pm.

Current strategy for snow removal is to maintain arterials and collectors until 10PM Tuesday night. Crews will be called off at 11PM, returning at 3AM Wednesday morning for a full plow. The priority will be arterials, collectors, and then residential streets. This approach will adjust as necessary during the event.

During a Snow Emergency all vehicles must be removed from public streets and alleys from the start of the snow emergency until after the snow has stopped AND the streets or alleys have been cleared curb to curb.

The City of Fort Atkinson strives to ensure the safety of our community. We realize during inclement weather, many are not venturing outdoors to see the snow emergency declared by our pylons located throughout the City. By utilizing numerous media outlets, residents will receive notification timely and be able to plan accordingly and prepare for the snow emergency.
